Wedding Planning

You’re engaged, congratulations!!!  So now what?  That’s a good question and one that as a wedding coordinator I hear all the time.  The journey you’re about to embark on will be full of ups and downs but has the opportunity to be one of the most rewarding of your life.  Take the journey step by step and day by day and you will be able to have your dream wedding, which will live on in your memory for years to come.

Getting started on planning your wedding can be a daunting task.  What do I do when?  How do I know what to choose?  Who do I ask for help?  How am I going to pay for this?  These are probably only a few of the questions that are going through your mind right now.  Don’t worry, whether you would like to do everything on your own or hire the help of a wedding planning professional, your day will be unique and special.

Ok, so you’re probably still asking, so where do I start?  Well, at the beginning of course.  Every journey has a beginning.  As a little girl you probably had or still have an idea in your head of what you would like your wedding to be.  Begin with this.  Is this idea still what you would like or not?  If it is, then you’re on your way.  If not, adapt it to what you would like now and then begin.  Talk with your fiancé and see if he has any ideas.  You might be surprised by what you find out.  He may have an idea of what he would like as well.  Combing both ideas isn’t always easy, but it is possible.  You will need to work together.

Choosing a date is one of the most important things to do.  You will have to find a ceremony and a reception venue, if they are not the same that are both available on the same day.  This can be a challenge as the majority of reception venue’s book at least one year in advance.  Developing a wedding budget is also important to do at the beginning of the wedding planning process.  Doing this right away will help you know the price range that you are working within and will keep you on track so that you don’t go into debt paying for your special day.

Always remember, your wedding day is supposed to be a happy day.  By planning things right, you can have a fun and stress free day that you and your guests will remember.  If you find you are getting stressed in the planning process, take a couple steps back and relax.  Go to the spa for a day, or do something else that you love that is not wedding related at all.  Then go back to the planning and things will work themselves out.

Wedding Centerpieces

Wedding centerpieces are often one of the focal points for each individual table at a wedding reception.  For the bride and groom choosing and/or designing their wedding centerpieces can be a fun process.  The following is a simple process to follow to making your wedding centerpieces and extension of who you are.

The first thing you will need to do is figure out how many wedding centerpieces you will need at your reception.  How many guest tables will you have?  Would you like one on any other tables such as the guest book table, cake table, buffet table, etc.  Once you have a number in mind you can move onto deciding your budget and design for your wedding centerpieces.

So now that you know how many wedding centerpieces you will need, it’s time to decide if you would like them to all be the same or not.  Would you like them all the same size?  Would you like to have two or three different centerpieces that will be at every other table or third table?  Would you like them to be different heights?  Would you like them to hold your table number or will that be separate?

Once you have figured out what you need to do you can move onto the design phase for your wedding centerpieces.  At this point you get to do the fun stuff.  We are now going to incorporate your theme and colours into your wedding centerpieces to make them an extension of who you are as a couple.  Worried?  Don’t be.  If you are unsure of what you are doing always remember there are many qualified wedding planning professionals out there who are willing and able to help you design your wedding centerpieces.

Once you know what you will need it will make your trip to the store to purchase your materials a lot more stress free and easy.  You will find that it will be easier for you to stay within the wedding budget amount you have previously allotted for your centerpieces as you already know exactly what you need and what your wedding centerpieces are going to look like.
